Massive Multimedia Project
Audience: Teenagers, young adults, table-top game players, fans of strategic trading card games
Tools used: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, AfterEffects with books of notes & sketches
Deliverables: 20-page rulebook, hundreds of unique cards, video animation, various designed play mats, package design for large boxes, small boxes & packs
This was the largest collaborative project I led involving the work of 10 to 15 people at its highest point. This card game featured 350 cards in Reboot, its premiere card set. The marketable portion of the game was the Starter Set — a box set of three starter decks (50 cards each) and a 20-page rulebook.
This game had a soft launch at Arcadiacon in Texas, Summer 2014, with a fairly warm reception. However, due to unresolved problems with the project's scope, the development team's waining interest, and crushing lack of funding, work on the H4Ck3Rs_ Trading Card Game was discontinued.
Even though this project was ultimately deemed a failure, it provided some great lessons in marketing, package production, templating, game mechanics, animation, video production, and global collaboration.
